The Lovely Truth

Paul was after the truth—no matter what the truth was. Maybe that’s one of the reasons he received so much revelation. If you read First and Second Corinthians, you’ll see that Paul not only sought the truth for himself, he also sought to help others receive the truth—even when that meant he could be perceived as hard.

Paul was an apostle, and his Christ-given mission was to perfect the saints for the work of the ministry and to build up the Church according to Ephesians 4:11. The end goal of five-fold ministry was, and still is, for believers to come into such unity in the faith and knowledge of Jesus that we will be mature Christians, able to advance God’s Kingdom. Paul knew when that happened, we would no longer behave like immature children, being tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching and being influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.
